May 11: Damascus, VA (leaving after lunch... really!!!) (mile 472)

ok, so here's the plan of the minute: leave here after lunch today, walk the virginia creeper trail for 14 miles or so until it joins the a.t., then head north for a few days and hitch back for trail days from atkins, virginia. i'll end up doing a bunch of non-a.t. miles, and repeating a few a.t. miles too, but it's not like i'm in a hurry to put on huge miles. also, i would have to push like crazy to make it past atkins. the next big town after that is bastion.

regardless of what i decide: i WILL be out of damascus today. quote me on that.
